Suárez Petit Verdot - Coming Oct. 2017
COMING IN OCTOBER 2017 - The 2014 Petit Verdot was produced from grapes sourced from the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation of the Niagara Peninsula where a cool-dry spring and a warm summer allowed fruit to ripen in perfect conditions.
The result was highly aromatic fruit with rich flavours. A classic Petit Verdot, the fruit was harvested at brix of 23 then gently crushed and destemmed before fermentation where yeast was selected to bring out rich fruity characters. Hand punch-downs twice a day resulted in a rich inky textured wine. It was then transferred into Italian-coopered French oak barrels for 18-months to age.
Aromas of ripe black fruit are heady and rich, followed by lush blackberry and red currents. This bold wine delivers a true complexity and expression of the varietal, including spice and tar.
